Diesel Fuels We Offer

When it comes to Diesel fuels you have options to help met you needs and business objectives. At Ramos Oil we distribute four of the most commonly used types of diesel fuel.

Clear Diesel

Clear Diesel, also known as #1 or #2 Diesel Fuel is the commonly available form of diesel on the market. Clear diesel is a petroleum-based product.

The difference in #1 and #2 diesel grades is in the energy content, lubrication properties, and tendency to gel in colder climates. Both types can be used in traditional diesel engines, can be switched between, or blended depending on need.

Renewable Diesel

Renewable Diesel is made from 100% renewable and sustainable products like natural fats, vegetable oils, and greases.

However, it is processed very similar to petroleum-based diesel. This makes it virtually chemically the same as clear diesel. This means it can be used in engines that use the traditional petroleum diesel options.

Biodiesel

Biodiesel is a renewable form of diesel fuel made from the same sustainable products as renewable diesel. The major difference between renewable and biodiesel is how the two are processed.

During the refinement process, biodiesel introduces oxygen into the fuel which can allow the fuel to freeze and have higher emissions along with other issues.

While biodiesel is made from renewable sources, it is commonly blended with a 5% to 20% ratio of petroleum diesel.

Red Diesel

Red Diesel, also known as Dyed Diesel, AG Diesel, and Off-Road Diesel, is the exact same as clear diesel, except it has been dyed to make it easily identifiable.

Red dyed diesel is only for use in off-road vehicles like heavy construction equipment, farm tractors, and generators. Since the vehicle using the fuel do not travel on public roads and highways, it is not subject to the same state and federal taxes as other forms of automotive fuel.

If your business uses this these types of equipment and vehicles, fueling with red diesel can cut fuel costs thereby reducing your bottom line.
